Where it all Began
Crafted with Intention
When I first moved to Australia after I got married, I didn’t know how to cook a perfectly balanced meal. I was new to the kitchen, unsure of spices, and often struggled to get the flavors just right. My husband became my very first (and most honest) critique.
Everything changed when my children were born. Cooking was no longer just a task — it became something deeply meaningful. I wanted to create meals that were not only nourishing, but full of flavor and comfort for my family.
I found myself going back to my roots — watching countless recipes, calling my amma for guidance, and trying to recreate the food I grew up with. The kind of food that stays with you… the finger-licking meals from childhood, the warmth of my grandparents’ home, and the unforgettable flavors from family gatherings.
When you move away from home, you realize how much you miss these simple things. And somehow, you begin to value your traditional food even more — because the only way to experience it again is to recreate it yourself, exactly as you remember it.
Over time, I began to understand the balance of spices, the little techniques, and the intuition that my naani and daadi carried in their kitchens. What once felt difficult slowly became second nature.
Today, I am able to bring those same flavors to life in my own kitchen. That journey is what led to Spice and Traditions Co.
I realized there are so many people, just like me, who long for authentic, home-style flavors but don’t always have the time to perfect them from scratch. This brand is my way of sharing those heritage recipes — making it easier for modern, busy kitchens to experience the same depth, warmth, and tradition.
